UVB Phototherapy

Although UVB lights are responsible for causing sunburn when it is carefully controlled, this treatment is so effective to treat some skin conditions, such as psoriasis, and eczema. These LED phototherapy lights that were produced by machines and shone to the whole body or specific parts of the body that need treatment. This UVB therapy can be a narrowband or broadband. The difference is the narrow band will use a smaller range of UV light, and the wider band will use a full UV spectrum during the treatment. The lower spectrum of narrow-band UVB therapy means that the more harmful wavelengths have been excluded, which makes this method more popular than another one. It is also more intensive, so treatment time is shorter treatment. Some researches also show that narrow-band UVB clears psoriasis more quickly rather than the wider ones means that it will give a longer remission result.  At this point, you may wonder about how does phototherapy work.

 UVB phototherapy is a preferred treatment for people who have psoriasis or eczema that have failed to respond to topical treatments. The therapy has been used in hospitals and clinics since it has developed in the 1920s. It will improve your skin condition by reducing the itchiness and calming your skin inflammation. It will improve vitamin D production and boost your mechanism to fight against bacteria in your skin.  You may consider using a narrow band UVB lamp, but you still have to discuss it with your doctor.

UV Light Treatment 

The natural sunlight can prevent or repair the symptoms of most inflammatory skin conditions. You should know that UV light is a part of sunlight that can bee used to help this condition. The UV radiation in sunlight will be divided into three different bands of rays, such as type A/ UVA, type B/ UVB, and type C/ UVC. You should know that UVB is the middle light energy that occurs between UVA light tanning and intense UVC rays. This UVA was also known as UV Aging rays, these rays can cause your skin aging, sunburn, and skin cancer. You have to talk to your doctor first if you want to know more about the care of the baby in phototherapy. UVB was also known as the UV burning rays since this light causes sunburn, and it is one of the most common causes of skin cancer. Then UVC is the strongest ray, it will be absorbed by the ozone layer, and it cannot reach the earth. Your doctor may suggest you with UVB phototherapy treatment based on some conditions.

A PUVA therapy 

This approach will use UVA light with psoralen, this treatment will improve your sensitivity to the light. This treatment can be mixed in your bathwater, taken orally, or even applied topically. Generally, this treatment is so effective but it is not widely used in many places. Oral PUVA has a higher risk of side effects, such as nausea. It will work effectively when your doctor combines it with the oral retinoid. The cost of phototherapy varies depending on your light treatments. PUVA bath will work the best with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis. PUVA topical is more beneficial for adults with the palmoplantar psoriasis condition. It can be used for localized psoriasis.
