There are so many types of skin disease that could happen to anyone. Among many other things are psoriasis and vitiligo. UVB Phototherapy

Commonly UVB treatment procedure will be done in the doctor’s office or clinic. However, nowadays phototherapy also could be done at home with a phototherapy device. There are two types of UVB phototherapy in which Narrow-Band UVB and broad-band UVB. The main difference between the two of them is the narrow-brand UVB unit produces a more specific or you could also call it more narrow range of UV wavelength. Furthermore, Narrow-band UVB is more commonly used rather than the broad-band UVB. Both of them usually used uv lamp for skin that are made from conventional bulbs or LED lamps.

Narrow Band UVB is the most effective light treatment option for many of the psoriasis patients all over the globe. There are new researches everyday on condition such as psoriasis and vitiligo that are treated well with Narrow-Band UVB treatment. Furthermore, this kind of treatment continue to show its effectiveness and a great result. Furthermore, there are some benefits from NBUVB treatment such as patients could derive the optimum advantage of phototherapy, NBUVB allows the patient to get a shorter course of treatment because it works effectively and aggressively towards the regiments, the patient have a higher possibility to get a longer period of remission after the treatment.


Another phototherapy treatment that could be done in treating skin disease is PUVA. Actually, PUVA is a combination between drug and ultraviolet light. It is a mix between drugs that belongs to psoralen drug with exposure to ultraviolet light A. Moreover, the psoralen drugs will make the body become very sensitive to UVA rays and then it will come in oral or topical form of medication. Commonly, PUVA will be done in a short-term treatment or until the psoriasis could be handled under control. Moreover, one of the side effects of this treatment is PUVA could increase the risk of skin cancer.


The next phototherapy treatment that could be done to treat skin disease patient is UVA1.  UVA 1 emits the long wavelength ultraviolet light that are the closest to visible light in the electromagnetic spectrum.  Hence, the UVA 1 could penetrate the body deeper than any other phototherapy treatments, but UVA has the lowest energy per photon compared to any other ultraviolet light. Furthermore, UVA 1 has been used more than 20 years with a great safety and great effectiveness records.
